Aiming to increase the awareness of the society, especially the youth, on politics in relation to the upcoming elections, AMA University hosted the 1st leg of the #TheLeaderIWant Senatorial Debate last April 8, 2016. The event was organized by Rappler, the leading news website in the Philippines in partnership with PTV channel 4 and AMA Education System (AMAES) through its online learning program AMA University Online Education (AMA Oed).
The said event was aired live on PTV 4, and was livestreamed on Rappler's website and Facebook page. AMAES students from other campuses were also able to watch it live via the school's webcast facility.
4 senatorial candidates attended the debate, namely Atty. Levi Baligod, Pastor Greco Belgica, former DOE Secretary Jericho Petilla and Atty. Lorna Kapunan.
The candidates presented the plans and programs that they will implement once elected as senator, and were asked regarding the following issues:
Corruption and Governance
Peace and Governance in Mindanao
OFW
Foreign Policy
Social Inequality
Disasters and Climate Change.
The said event is part of the partnership between AMAES and Rappler for the #TheLeaderIWant and #PhVote campaigns. #AMAESnews
